Essentially, with PLR, an internet marketer produces an information product, like an ebook, then sells that ebook to a set number of buyers. The marketer decides how many people can purchase the ebook and sets the limits for what can be done with the product.

For example, those who purchase the PLR may or may not be able to sell it to others, may or may not be allowed to use the product for article marketing, and may or may not be able to give the product away to members of their membership site. You set the rules for what your buyers can and cannot do with the PLR you produce.

The one stipulation of PLR is buyers of private label rights products must change the products they purchase to make them their own. Generally, you don’t have to rewrite the whole product, but most marketers recommend rewriting between 40 and 70 percent.

Choose a niche.

If you have your own online business or you’re an internet marketer, you likely already have a niche(s) in which you work. If you don’t, find a niche that appeals to you, that has a target market hungry for information, and that isn’t oversaturated with other marketers and products.

Decide what type of product you want to create. Popular PLR products include ebooks, articles, special reports, video, and graphics. Determine what type of PLR product your target audience wants, and create it.

Write a compelling sales letter.

A sales letter can make or break your PLR product, so make sure you make it compelling. Internet marketing sales letters are vastly different than those sales letters you generally receive in the mail. Internet marketers tend to write long, hard hitting sales letters to entice readers to purchase their products.

If you’ve never written a sales letter before, read sales letters written by other internet marketers. If you don’t consider yourself a good writer, consider hiring a ghostwriter to write your sales letter for you.

Once you have sold some of your PLR products, ask several buyers if they would be willing to provide written, audio, or video testimonials that you can then add to your sales letter.

Promote your PLR product.

You need to get people to read your sales letter, so you must be aggressive in promoting your PLR product. There are dozens of ways you can promote your PLR product, including: use Google Adwords; join forums in your niche and promote your product in your signature line; and write articles and submit them to article directories.
